Become a Waikiki Aquarium Volunteer

The Waikiki Aquarium aims to inspire and promote understanding, appreciation, and conservation of Pacific marine life. More than 300 wonderful volunteers help to make this mission a reality. These special people, diverse in age, background, and experience, are eager to learn more about Hawaii’s marine environment and how they can share this knowledge with others. We have volunteer opportunities in our Education department, Gift Shop, Live Exhibits department, Visitor Services, and more! Whether you are a professional or a homemaker, retired or work full-time, a teacher or a student, the Aquarium needs your skills and talents.

Adopt-A-Highway Program

Keeping trash off our highways is one of the most critical ways to ensure our storm drains are free of pollutants and debris. HDOT Highways Adopt-A-Highway program is a public service program that allows volunteers from any organization to pick up litter along Hawaii’s state highways. Embrace your chance to make a personal contribution towards a cleaner Hawaii!

Volunteer at Waimea Valley

To join the volunteer team as an Individual, people register with the volunteer coordinator and they are given a choice of different departments and projects to get involved with. Some Individual volunteer opportunities include hospitality ambassadors, docents, botanical assistants, facilities maintenance, office assistants, special events assistants, and conservation team members. Our volunteer program provides training and experience to the participants and the opportunity to learn from and connect with our incredible staff. This is mostly meant for adults, but minors can join our team with their parent's permission.
