VIRTUAL: Hui O Ko’olaupoko’s Second Saturday Education Series

Hui O Ko’olaupoko’s Saturday education series continues this month from our brand new project site at Kawainui! Join us virtually on Zoom, Saturday April 10th at 9am to learn more about the project site as we interview DOFAW wildlife biologist, Lindsey Nietmann about project goals and the native plants and animals found in the marsh.

Lindsey manages DOFAW’s efforts to restore habitat for endangered water birds in Kawainui. Over the past 12 years, Lindsey has worked across the world studying tropical birds. She earned her doctorate in 2018 comparing forest bird nesting ecology in the Mariana Islands and Australia before starting with DOFAW in 2019. Her favorite parts of her job include being chest-deep in Kawainui mud, searching for nests, and involving community groups in restoration.
